This track is from the Licensed To Ill album by the Beastie Boys from back in 1986 and it's a classic!Licensed To Ill was the first ever rap LP to top the Billboard 200 chart. It is still to this date, Columbia Records fastest selling debut record  that sold over five million copies! To put it bluntly, it broke down a lot of barriers and created a path that many would follow. 

This Beastie Boys track was the follow-up single to "Paul Revere" and the track that preceded "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)."

"The Message" is a classic song from 1982 by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five.This track went platinum in less than a month back when platinum was much harder to attain. It is the first Hip-Hop record ever to be added to the United States National Archive of Historic Recordings.

Later hip-hop would sample the beat such as artists like Ice Cube on "Check Yo Self" and Puff Daddy on "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down."

Rolling Stone ranked "The Message" #51 in its List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (published November 2004), making it the highest placing for any song released in the 1980s and the highest ranking hip-hop song on the list.

Warren G blasted through the scene back in 1994 with his megahit called "Regulate" featuring Nate Dogg. It sampled Michael McDonald's hit "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)", was used on the soundtrack to Above The Rim, and helped make Regulate…G Funk Era reach triple platinum status.

"Ghetto Musick" is found on Big Boi's disc Speakerboxxx, and was initially released as a double a-side single.

The song samples vocals from Patti LaBelle's "Love, Need and Want You". LaBelle also appears in the video lip syncing to her vocals.
